Enthusiastic Youth Turn Out in Large Numbers for Civil Defence Program in Chandigarh

The Tagore Theatre in Chandigarh hosted the Union Territory administration's Civil Defence Volunteer program on Saturday which attracted a massive crowd of young participants.
The scheduled time to reach the venue was 12.15 pm but thousands of boys and girls arrived at the spot before 8 am.
The event drew such a large crowd that thousands of candidates had to be relocated to the Tiranga Ground at Sector 17, Chandigarh for training purposes.
The Chandigarh Civil Defence Volunteer program covered essential cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques alongside first aid procedures and methods to move an injured person to safety as well as fire extinguishing techniques.
Participants were informed that the Indian military would contact them if their help was needed.
During the session at Tiranga Ground slogans such as “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” filled the air while participants responded to the organisers’ question “How’s the Josh?” with a resounding “High, Sir”.
The 20-year-old Chandigarh resident Varun Sharma reported that their group's morale was high to the Sir at the Tagore Theatre.
We arrived here expecting the Administration to provide us with training and subsequent assignments but received only basic CPR and first aid instruction. “Anywhere we could be sent,” stated Varun Sharma confidently.
Ranjana of Mohali who belongs to the National Cadet Corps (NCC) completed basic training to handle several emergency situations.
My friend Priya from Sector 49 and I arrived here in the early morning hours. We are already certified NCC cadets. We expected to receive assignments. She explained that although they weren't assigned tasks yet they provided their phone numbers through the form and would respond when the Administration needed them.
